Het laatste Pink Floyd album met Roger Waters. Of beter, het album dat onder de vlag Pink Floyd werd gemaakt maar waar - op Roger Waters na - de band bijna niet bij betrokken was. Door velen weggezet als verreweg het zwakste album van de band in het tijdperk met Waters nog in de gelederen, maar het is zeker een erg interessant en boven alles relevant album. The Final Cut was oorspronkelijk bedoeld als de opvolger van The Wall. Nu was het chronologisch gezien ook wel de opvolger, maar in oorsprong was het letterlijk en figuurlijk een appendix. Spare Bricks moest het gaan heten en het album zou worden opgebouwd...
