“That’s my kind of country“, stelt Jesse Daniel in de gelijknamige song. Met die uit de kluiten gewassen Stetson op het hoofd  en stevige hangsnor oogt Jesse Daniel niet alleen als een traditionalist van het genre maar klinkt als een rechtstreeks uit de honky tonks van Bakersfield weggerukte cowboy en dat charmeert ons uitermate vanaf de eerste gespeelde noot. Jesse, die opgroeit in een landelijk bergstadje in de buurt van San Jose in Centraal Californië, leeft zich  als tiener aanvankelijk uit op de drumkit in punkformaties maar schakelt vrij vlug over naar country.
