Als gecamoufleerde Zorro cowboy presenteert Orville Peck zich aan het publiek. Vaak is de schrikreactie groter als je de artiesten zonder make-up of maskers ziet, en dat verklaart een hoop. Bij Orville Peck past het allemaal wel. Hier is niet zozeer de behoefte om het ware individu achter het kostuum te ontdekken. De muziek is al krachtig genoeg. Mooi hoe hij die duistere country aan zijn wat lichtere croonende stemgeluid koppelt. Met regelmaat grijpt hij terug naar de New Wave sound. Over de artiest is verder weinig bekend, behalve dat hij uit Noord Amerika komt. Laat het mysterie Orville Peck maar een groot vraagteken blijven, dat past ook het beste...
