Lukt het een band als The National nog steeds om te verrassen? Getuigende de laatste single Hairpin Turns had ik wel heel sterk mijn twijfels. Natuurlijk ligt de nadruk altijd wel bij het kenmerkende eigen stemgeluid van Matt Berninger. Hier duurt het een tijdje voordat het gewenningsproces tot de terechte waardering wordt omgezet. De tegendraadse zang gaat haaks tegen de muzikale omlijsting in, maar overtuigd na meerdere luisterbeurten wel weer. Zal de band het op hun achtste studio album I Am Easy to Find dan toch weer flikken? Laten we hierin eerlijk zijn. De tot in perfectie afgeleverde popplaten als Boxer en High Violet worden niet meer geëvenaard. Trouble Will...
