Minder dan een jaar na het bijzonder smakelijke Smote Reverser is de hyperactieve John Dwyer alweer terug met Oh Sees. De teller staat qua albums en EP’s al boven de twintig. En dat is sinds 2006. Face Stabber ligt in het verlengde van zijn voorganger en is wederom een verzameling enorm gedreven, vaak gefreakte songs die raken aan garagerock, krautrock, psychedelica en progrock. Opvallend is wel dat een derde van dit album wordt ingenomen door slechts twee tracks: Scutum & Scorpius en het afsluitende Henchlock. Met eerstgenoemde waan je jezelf door de koortjes en orgels in, pakweg, 1970. Na de beloftevolle eerste minuten blijft de boel wel wat hangen in...
