Het Londense indiepop gezelschap Goat Girl klinkt op hun gelijknamige eersteling Goat Girl nog als een stelletje junks die zich aan de hand van speltherapie in een verslavingskliniek terug moeten vinden. De vertraagde slacker songs ademen verveling uit, maar dan wel met een behoorlijk hoog middelvinger in de lucht gehalte. Het viertal dames zijn een stelletje powervrouwen volgens het riot grrrl principe, onvoorspelbaar en bedreigend. Hierdoor plaatst men ze al snel in de feministische hoek, terwijl ze in principe gewoon hedendaagse rock and roll spelen, met daarin invloeden verwerkt die afkomstig uit de country, rockabilly, postpunk en grunge zijn.
