Ze stond bij mij voordien ook al op een zeer mooi blaadje, deze conservatoriumzangeres Laura Mvula. Maar het gebeurde eerder al dit jaar met St.Vincent en nu herhaalt het zich bij haar. Terugduiken in oude platenkasten met een sound van decennia geleden en eruit weerkeren en opveren met niet minder dan een persoonlijk en muzikaal hoogtepunt: Pink Noise. Zichzelf daarbij verloochenen doet ze niet, nee. Dat niet bij een ervaren en zelfbewust iemand als Laura, eerder integendeel. Ze vond wel haar zelfzekerheid terug en oplevend door haar sterke nieuwe plaat kijkt ze nu terug op dieptes, liefdes, frustraties, haar tranen en 't loslaten van verleden.
