Met zijn verwarde semi-psychotische uitstraling trekt de praatzieke James Smith volledig de aandacht. Wie is die ontmantelbare jongeman wiens brein genadeloos als een overspannen typemachine blijft doorratelen. Onberekenbaar bereikt zijn roodgloeiende manische woordenvloed al snel een oververhit kookpunt waar de stratenmakermachine van Yard Act doodleuk overheen walst. Het uit Leeds afkomstige viertal vindt hun stabiliteit sinds ze gitarist Sammy Robinson voor Sam Shjipstone verruilen en drummer Jay Russell de plek van George Townend inneemt. In de paranoia van het qua ritme lichtelijk op het gelijknamige Sugababes gebaseerde The Overload titelstuk zitten alle dagelijkse angsten verwerkt, al moet je wel wat moeite doen om de cryptische omschrijvingen te ontrafelen.
