In ‘96 reisden Jon Nolan, zijn broer James en Cliff Murphy regelmatig vanuit Maine naar Texas. Het verhaal van Say Zuzu begint drie jaar eerder in New Hampshire als Murphy, destijds al met Jon en James actief in ZuZu’Petals, de Nolan broertjes met copies van March 16-20 van Uncle Tupelo en Neil Young’s Zuma confronteert, intensieve luistersessies volgen.
