Het is ondertussen ruim 35 jaar geleden dat ik Rodney Crowell voor het eerst in levende lijve aanschouwde. 'An Evening Of New American Music' herbergde in ’95 naast Marty Stuart de ontluikende countrylady Trisha Yearwood en Emmylou Harris, destijds de leading lady die country en Americana verenigde. In haar Hot Band  deelde gitarist Crowell  de lakens uit. Emmylou experimenteerde nadien samen met eigen songschrijverij  en Buddy Miller in Spy Boy terwijl Crowell zijn pad verder uitstippelde met grandioos  solowerk. Het duo bundelde de creatieve krachten in 2013 met Old Yellow Moon, vier jaar later bracht The Travelling Kind, het tweede duoproject, Emmylou en Crowell ‘together again’ op festvalpodia, zoals Blues...
