Met An Ever Changing View is Manchester trompettist Matthew Halsall alweer toe aan zijn tiende album. Een album waarbij de inspiratie voortvloeide uit zijn verblijf in eerst een opvallend architectonisch huis aan de zee in Noord-Wales en daarna een modernistisch huis in het hart van Northumberland. Midden in de natuur, ver van de stad, schreef hij de songs die het dichtst bij zijn hart liggen. Elk moment dat je het idee hebt dat Halsall zijn spiritual jazzsound het verst heeft doorgetrokken komt hij met een album waarop hij dat nog wat verder doet.
