Kamasi Washington werd in het vorige decennium dankzij samenwerkingen met Snoop Dogg en Kendrick Lamar en zijn rijkgevulde albums The Epic en Heaven & Earth een internationaal gevierd muzikant. De saxofonist uit Los Angeles bereikte met zijn (live) partijen voor Snoop en Lamar vlot een groter publiek na enkele albums in eigen beheer te hebben uitgebracht. Het sterke The Epic kwam hierna uit op het hippe Brainfeeder en die release katapulteerde Kamasi qua populariteit tot grote hoogten. Inmiddels heeft Kamasi dan ook een flink publiek aan zich weten te binden, een publiek dat veel breder is dan het jazzpubliek dat je tien jaar geleden nog bij hem verwachtte. Washington speelde...
