Door oprecht je eigen gevoel te volgen, blijft de puurheid intact. De Britse Kate Nash is een muzikale veelvraat die schaamteloos haar liefde voor de alternatieve grungescene naast de meer popgerichte tieneridolen legt. Met deze veelzijdigheid valt ze al snel in de love it or hate categorie. De goed bevriende Lily Allen benut alle kansen om haar te promoten, en zo belandt Kate Nash Made of Bricks debuutplaat in 2007 bovenaan de albumcharts. Toch loopt de kritische pers niet helemaal lovend met haar onnavolgbaarheid weg waardoor ze bij elke daarop volgende schijf moeite moet doen om zich te bewijzen.
