We volgen Charley Crockett al een tijdje, sinds zijn relatief ruime doorbraak met Lonesome As A Shadow volgden al even meesterlijke, met autobiografische snapshots van zijn niet bepaald rooskleurig verleden  gevulde werkstukken als The Valley en Welcome To Hard Times. De Lil’G.L. cyclus bracht de favoriete honky tonk en westernhelden van de ontheemde Texaan in herinnering en een derde hoofdstuk 10 For Slim was integraal opgebouwd met songwerk van Crokett’s betreurde vriend James Hand, een geïnspireerd eerbetoon dat opgevolgd werd door het ruimer georiënteerde Juke Box’s Charley dat de muzikale nalatenschap van Tom T. Hall, Willie Nelson, George Jones en andere countryiconen reanimeerde. Ondertussen blijft Crockett actief als singer-songwriter, getuige...
