Bij Richard Dawson moet je zijn werk bijna altijd in een groter perspectief zien. Halverwege zijn Peasant, 2020 en The Ruby Cord trilogie wijkt hij naar Finland uit om samen met hardrockers van Circle aan Henki te werken. Uiteindelijk voltooit hij het lichtelijk op het concept van Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol gebaseerde drieluik over het verleden, heden en toekomst. Vervolgens gaat hij weer terug naar de puurheid van de sobere folkrock en schept hij op End of the Middle een kleinschalige micromaatschappij met korte hedendaagse treurige schetsen van hoe de inwoners daar hun tijd invullen.
