Haar muzikale opleiding genoot Tami  n de familieband van The Neilsons  die naast Canada, vooral in Noord Amerika tourde. Na de verhuis naar Nieuw Zeeland blijft broer Jay, een gitarist die haar vroegste werk in goede banen leidde nauw betrokken bij het studiowerk. In Europa maakten we kennis met de ondertussen in haar  nieuwe thuisland tot Queen van country & rockabilly  gekroonde chanteuse via Don’t Be Afraid  op de meer eclectische opvolgers Safrassas en het recentere Kingmaker duikt Jay regelmatig op als co-writer.
